When in labor it’s challenging to think about anything but the pain. So, when first time Surrogate Jennifer was asked a very important question just moments before delivery she kept her composure as a strong surrogate.
“My Intended Parents asked me if I wanted to do a sibling project while I was in labor,” said Jennifer.
“I knew I would say yes…but I was a little busy at that moment!”
Jennifer knows first-hand the benefits of a big family along with the unconditional love Jennifer knows first-hand the benefits of a big family along with the unconditional love She is adopted along with four of her siblings. Her parents had one child on their own and weren’t able to have any more so they decided to adopt.
Now, a mother of two, Jennifer loves to see how her kids take on the traits of her and their father.
“It’s so funny to see them do something and know that I did the same thing when I was their age,” she said.
Jennifer decided her family of four was complete.
“I totally scored with one boy and one girl and they’re both awesome!”
Although she had thought about surrogacy in the past it wasn’t until she met her neighbor, Surrogate, Jennifer Armstrong, and saw what the journey was all about.
“After hearing about her first journey and watching while she did her second journey I decided it was time to consider surrogacy.”
She was soon matched with Intended Parents and felt prepared for the process, but there were still some elements that surprised her.
“I thought I knew everything that was coming with surrogacy, but I was not expecting so many shots, pills and vitamins!”
“I just kept reminding myself that it would all be worth it in the end.”
And it definitely was worth it! In April, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
“It was incredible to see the look of happiness on my IP’s faces,” she said.
Jennifer is now ready for round two!
“Toward the end I started saying the only way I would do it again is if my IP’s asked me to do it again for them.”
Jennifer says a common question she got as a surrogate was “Won’t it be difficult to give the baby away?” She explains it as quite the opposite.
“I didn’t see it as giving away the baby, it was just me simply giving the baby back to the parents.”
Having support and guidance from the Surrogacy community gave her the strength she needed throughout the journey and the confidence for a second journey.
“Sarah was the best coordinator, ”she said. Having a fellow strong surrogate right next door also made a big difference for her.
“Jennifer was my go to for everything and I couldn’t have done it without her!”
