Medical Screening Explained

Medical screening is the foundation of a safe and successful surrogacy journey. It begins with a consultation with a reproductive endocrinologist (RE), who reviews medical history and conducts fertility assessments. Surrogates undergo thorough health checks, including bloodwork, ultrasounds, and psychological evaluations, to ensure they are medically and emotionally prepared.

Embryologists handle the creation and assessment of embryos, ensuring quality before transfer. Maternal–foetal medicine (MFM) specialists may be involved for advanced monitoring, particularly in high-risk cases.

Screening also includes prescribed medications, cycle synchronisation, and clear clinic timelines, all designed to support the surrogate’s health and maximise the chances of a successful pregnancy.
