“I believe everyone has a calling in life,” said first time surrogate Renee Hale.
“I was ready to embark on mine.”
It all started when a friend of Renee’s began talking about a recent surrogacy journey.
“The word “surrogate” immediately caught my attention and I wanted to know more,” she said.
For Renee, it was like a spark, something that was always in the back of her mind had finally ignited.
That is the strong bond that surrogates share; their ears perk up when they hear of an opportunity to help others. To make a dream come true for a couple in need. Renee felt that connection and knew the journey was for her.
Now, it was time to bring the idea to her husband.
“He was hesitant at first, but really warmed up after learning more and meeting people in the surrogacy community,” she said.
With strong family support by her side, Renee decided it was time to put herself out there and move forward.
She was soon matched with her Intended Parents.
“I felt so honored that the parents chose me,” said Renee.
Next step was the transfer, which for Renee, was a successful on the first try.
“I was so excited to send the positive pregnancy test to my IP’s,” she said.
A common question she gets as a surrogate is “Don’t you feel a bond with the baby your carrying?”
Renee says as a surrogate of course she feels a bond, but it is not one of a motherly attachment.
“To me, the baby and his parents will always hold a special place in my heart, that is the bond I feel.”
Renee gave birth to a 7 pound 8-ounce baby boy. His name holds a special surrogacy memory.
“The Parents gave him my last name, “Hale,” as his middle name!”
“It was a day of pure joy, happiness and above all else, love!”
Even though it has only been a few months since she delivered, Renee is already thinking about a second journey.
“That’s what Surrogacy brings, a desire to continue to help others,” she said.
When Renee reflects on her journey she is filled with excitement and a great sense of accomplishment.
“Looking back, I think Wow! I really did that,” she said.
“I am so proud of everyone who supported me along the way and what surrogacy has brought to our lives.”
